Was having a conversation with Mae about this the other day and couldn't find the source material easily. So, our conversation re-kindled my interest and now I've been able to find enough on this to bring it to everyone's attention.

The thread above contains a link to the original discussion in the LOTRO forums. Interesting (and long) read.

The long and short of this is that if you want to run t2 content (which is the ultimate goal of several of us) then you may need to re-consider your overall build if you're not at these "hidden" caps for t2 mits. I know both this thread and the LOTRO forum thread are a bit old, but I haven't been able to find anything more recent saying this is no longer the case so I'm going to plan on dropping in enough mit essences at 105 to hit the higher t2 caps. Thought several folks would like to know about this discovery, please let me know if this is outdated information.

I'd read the same, for example,

https://www.reddit.com/r/lotro/comments/4u8oxa/essences_for_raids_and_t2c/

I've seen (and Key has stated) that you need 20K mits - but I haven't seen if this is the same for all armor classes, or if us squishies need more.

20k is for light-armoured classes.

22.4k for medium.

24.6k for heavies.

Source.

IMO, this has been out a while, but it's good for folks to see it and be aware when they're gearing up. 😀

Thanks for clearing that up, Mal! I like seeing the hard numbers, was having some difficulty cutting through some of the technical talk those forum people were going through. Saves me from running some tests of my own lol.

Yes based on the timestamps on the forum thread I knew it had been a known issue for some time. Was mainly posting here so some of our folks who may not have caught this on the forums would see it.

We like people to be informed! :)

I'll add one little interesting thing to this, at least I find it interesting, when update 18 launched turbine decided to make it so people could see what buffs mobs get at t2. Consequently, when you are in a t2 instance you will see 3 little buffs on a mobs health bar with a list of what the mobs are getting in addition to their normal stats.

One of them is that mitigation's are reduced by 7290, so, to figure out how much you need just add that number to what ever the t1 cap is for your class to get the t2 number. The lotro wiki also has the required mits for t2 at level cap in their character stats page. https://www.lotro-wiki.com/index.php/Character_Stats I use this page a lot when planning what I need and want for my toons.

Had noticed the buffs under the mobs just the other day, which is nice to see.

I'll also mention that the Character Stats page is showing t2 mit caps for lvl 108 mobs, which is why there's the slight difference from those numbers to what came from my link.

Thanks for the information!
